R&P Post 3: Studying Our Target Audience

Our target audience:
Our audience: As our film falls into the genre of a sports/drama film, we are targeting it towards teenagers and young adults  of both genders who are also interested in sports. Also the age rating of our movie is 15 which is another reason why we are targeting it towards the younger generations. Here is a moodboard we created for our target audience:

Tips for marketing a film to teenagers:
    • Advertise on online music platforms. One thing teens love is music and as they do not usually have much money, they are frequent users of free music platforms, such as Spotify and YouTube.
    • Teenagers nowadays have short attention spans so it order to successfully market a product for this audience you must keep it short.
    • Target a variety of social media websites/apps by creating different profiles on these platforms, e.g. have Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. profiles.
Tips for marketing a film to sport fanatics:
    • Actively use social media- sport fans love to hear about news sports news, such as scores updated from a big game, and then share them on various social media sites.
    • Employ smartphone marketing techniques- many sports fans frequently use their smartphones to check on updates on their favourite sports, such as checking the current score of a football game.

And when you combine these two types of people you get...

    Teen/young adult sport fans!

Why we are choosing a film rating of 15:
As a group we have decided to give our film an age rating of 15 because when we researched what a 15-rated film can include, we believed that this would be acceptable and suitable for our film. This is because a 15-rated film can include scenes of strong violence with some blood and strong language, and during the rest of our film we would most likely include relatively strong scenes of violence and bad language as boxing is a vicious and violent sport which is how we want to represent it, as well as being a very hard-working and victorious sport. Also, in our film there may be some sexual activity which we could choose to focus on for a art of our film and an age ration of 15 allows this. You can see what a 15-rated film is allowed to include according to the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) here.
